Groundbreaking Revolutionary Innovative Trailblazers (GRIT)
Grades: Rising 9th Graders
The GRIT Program at Dowell J. Howard is designed for students entering 9th grade who are seeking a more personalized and flexible learning experience. This innovative program offers a full-day, everyday schedule that blends online and in-person learning, helping students thrive academically and personally in a small, supportive environment.
Profile of a GRIT Student
Students in the GRIT Program are self-directed learners who prefer a smaller, more adaptable learning environment. They are doing well academically and do not have significant behavioral concerns, but due to life circumstances, school may not always be their top priority. These students are motivated to take the initiative, ask questions, and make decisions about their learning with the guidance of their teachers.
